We met up with Simon and Annabel recently, along with their children, Izzy, Charlie, Harry and George or was it George and Harry, at Studley Royal.

With winter photo shoots on location, you are never quite sure what the weather is going to throw at you, but as the first photograph shows, despite the cold we had some fabulous light.

After a warming cup of hot chocolate and a slab of christmas cake with cheese, (it appears I’m alone in thinking cake and cheese is normal), we went back out with renewed energy and completed the shoot.

Earlier this year it was Tom’s 21st birthday. I know that is hard to believe for those that know me as I look so young myself (LoL). After a great deal of head scratching and thinking, (well what do you buy a student who has just about everything), Sue and I bought him a driving experience at Teeside Autodrome.

After lunch in Newcastle we headed down to the track at Teeside, and obviously I wasn’t going without my cameras.

With a few different cars to choose from, Tom chose the combination of Subaru Impreza WRX STI (any colour as long as it’s blue) followed by the sleek and stylish Aston Martin V8 Vantage which looked fabulous in dark grey.

Then came the Aston Martin.

Sue and I arrived early for this shoot so that we could have a little recce of the location. I’m so glad we did as we managed to spot a rather large stag with some sizeable antlers meandering up the hill side in the Seven Bridges Valley. If your wondering, as you sit there reading this, why I haven’t posted a photograph of the aforementioned stag, that is simple, my gear was in the boot of the car as I was only doing a recce. Lesson learnt.

Our shoot this time was for Chris and Rachel whose wedding we photographed back in 2001. We have had a couple of family shoots since, when Georgina and then Henry both started walking. Today was our first shoot with Daisy.

Despite the cold, a hole in a wellie and the short daylight hours we had a great time and here are a few of our favourite images from the shoot.

I had  a trip down to Staffordshire recently to meet up with Mack and her family for a four generations Photo Shoot.

Mack also had a bit of support from an old friend, quite a star in his own right too, not that she needed it.

It was a great location, great decor with plenty of natural window light.

After shooting at their home we headed out to get the days last couple of shots, and came across a small wooded area that was ideal.

This is a Photo Shoot I had with a delightful baby girl called Alice and her mum Holly.

She was a delight to photograph, very smiley and good natured and with lots of patience too.

Billy the Chihuahua wasn’t camera shy either.

The window light in their cottage was wonderful and was used on most of the images.

Alice and I even managed to coax Holly in to a few of the pictures too.

Here are a few of our favourite shots….

I had a really great time photographing five siblings recently.

Sue and I first met the older ones around eight years ago so everyone was nice and relaxed when we met which is a big help when wanting to take someone’s photograph on a natural lifestyle shoot.

We had the use of a fabulous garden, and was able to make use of many sections which had some wonderful areas facing different directions, so I could really take advantage of the natural light.

I love the expressions on the group images when they are all laughing.

Its hard to believe but it is just over 10 years ago, that Sue and I photographed Andrew and Hester’s Wedding.

I’m delighted to say we have met several times since, and also had the pleasure of getting to know Teddy and Archie too.

On our last shoot we met at ‘Broccoli Bottom’, this time though we met at the no less unusually named ‘Roxy’s Roost’.

For our shoot this time, we had a walk around the village green in Fangfoss and after lunch and Betty’s Tearoom cakes we took a few more shots before heading to the playground, to finish. Archie and Teddy’s treat for doing so well.

Just recently I spent some time with Jackie and David and their family.

It was a lively and energetic session and I love the expressions and movement in the pictures.

It was one of those great British Summer days, rather gusty and threatening rain but thankfully we completed the shoot and even had time for a quick coffee and fairy cakes.

The location was really good and we even managed to get some shots of David’s lovely mare Ruby.

I had a fabulous afternoon recently with Charlie and Yasmin who I have photographed before and their younger sister Zoe.

Zoe had just learned to walk two weeks earlier, and loved walking on the sand with her older siblings.

We met over on the east coast at Saltburn by the Sea, a place I had never been before.

Our aim was to end the portrait shoot with some surfing shots, but unfortunately the sea was flat calm and not good for surfing.

However we did get some great shots on the beach, by the pier and across the seafront in a small boatyard area, although we did spot almost as many dilapidated tractors as boats.

I spent a morning recently photographing Emilia and Felix at their home.

Most of the time we spent in the garden, before heading inside to capture some images making use of the wonderful window light .

I love the expressions on their faces in the running shots, especially the ones where Felix is chasing Emilia.

Also the one on the next row down where they are both laughing.

We were so lucky with the weather which was really good until the last couple of shots and then the heavens opened.
